The role of the Security Service at Aberdeen Mall is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the shopping public at the largest shopping destination in the Thompson Nicola Valley. The Aberdeen Mall Security team consists of 8 uniformed members, including a Manager and Supervisor. The security department patrols Aberdeen Mall 365 days a year while providing an increased presence during the busier times of the week and year. In the event that you require the assistance of the Security Service, Security staff can be contacted by Guest Services, located at the lower mall entrance. Uniformed, licensed, and radio equipped male and female Security staff patrol the mall, providing security presence and offering assistance as required.

To further support a secure shopping experience, Aberdeen Mall Security utilizes CCTV surveillance, ensuring continuous monitoring and rapid response to any situation.

  • Vehicle Assistance - Helping locate lost or misplaced vehicles.
  • Lost & Found - Assisting in locating children or individuals and assisting Guest Services with our Lost & Found program.
  • Safe-Walk Escorts - Ensuring personal safety by escorting visitors upon request. Please call Security for assistance (wait times may vary).

Security Duties

In addition to patrolling the shopping floor, our Security Service also patrol the mall parking lots and outer perimeter. These patrols serve to deter crime, identify suspicious behaviour and to assist shoppers in these outer areas of the Shopping Centre. Calls for assistance are dispatched to the appropriate Security personnel who are trained to deal with any situation that may arise. Our Security act as an important link with the RCMP and other emergency services that may be required at Aberdeen Mall.

First Aid and CPR

In order to further protect visitors to Aberdeen Mall, the Centre acquired three Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) and all members of the Security Service and Operations staff are trained in the use of these life-saving cardiac devices. All Security and Operations personnel are also trained in first aid and CPR.
