In the past when our fire alarm bells have gone off our procedure has been to investigate the alarm before determining whether we need to evacuate the building.
Upon completion of our most recent fire drill, it was recommended by the Kamloops Fire Department that if-and-when our alarm bells go off that we move to evacuate the building immediately as we could be losing valuable minutes to get everyone out safely in the event of a real emergency.
The safety of everyone in the building is paramount to us, so effective immediately when the alarm bells sound, we will be instructing everyone to evacuate the premises via an announcement made by Guest Services.
Should you have questions or concerns, please reach out to the Administration Office.

Welcome to the New Mobile Friendly Aberdeen Mall (powered by MRI Angus) Service Portal
Aberdeen Mall is pleased to announce the launch of our new responsive Service Portal on Thursday, June 6, 2024. The mobile friendly service portal greatly streamlines the processes for submitting requests as well as viewing important building information. A self-serve, secure Service Portal offers a convenient way for all building occupants to get the service they need. Whether on a laptop, desktop, or mobile device, the portal provides the ability to request maintenance services. Please note that the current Service Portal URL: http://www.ng1.angus.mrisoftware.com/tenant/232543/Main/default.aspx
The following information provides an overview of the new portal.
This Service Portal features a modern user interface, leveraging the latest technologies, and provides an optimal experience across all devices.
For your convenience, we recommend adding a shortcut to the Service Portal on your mobile device’s home screen. Then, simply login with your username and password.
Saving a Website Shortcut to your Home Screen:
iOS:
- In Safari (default browser), navigate to your portal’s login screen at http://www.ng1.angus.mrisoftware.com/tenant/232543/Main/default.aspx
- Tap the “send to” icon ( ), located at the top of the browser
- Select the “add to Home screen” icon ( ) from the menu
- Press “add”
Android:
- In Chrome (default browser), navigate to your portal’s login screen at http://www.ng1.angus.mrisoftware.com/tenant/232543/Main/default.aspx
- Press the “more options” icon ( ), located at the top of the browser
- Select “Add to Home screen” from the menu
- Enter a name for the home screen icon if needed, and press “add”.
This new system will be replacing the current protocol where tenants call Guest Services with store requests for maintenance related inquiries. Moving forward when you need someone from Maintenance to visit your store, all requests will need to be set up through the service portal. This will include all requests for help with gates, temperature control, etc.
All store managers can expect an automated welcome email this Thursday, June 6th. You will then have the ability to add in other employees (Assistant Managers, Keyholders, etc.) from your store to be able to dispatch requests as well.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Administration Office for further information.

Aberdeen Mall Attendees: Sandra Neufeld, Rick Bischler, Jeff DeFehr, Fabien Astre & Kristi Williams
Retailer Attendees: Chatters, Fresh St. Market, GAP Factory, House of Knives, Specsavers and The Tiny Library
- HBC Closure
- June 16th we will receive keys back
- Environmental survey is scheduled for June 17th
- Roof repairs will be one of the first projects
- There could be some fixtures available, if anyone is interested for their store, please reach out to the Admin Office ahead of June 16th
- We will not be doing any temporary leasing in the space; we will immediately strip down the space and prepare for it to be redemised
- Plans include increased common area space
- Vertical transportation, much like Food Court, with a staircase and elevator is planned
- Depending on interest, it’s looking like 3 or 4 units on the upper level and 2 or 3 units on the lower level
- No tenants are confirmed yet, but we are actively marketing the space. Open to a mix of different tenants including furniture, bowling, pickleball courts, retail and/or office space
- We are looking to add some vending in the vacant space on the lower lever outside of HBC (games, rides, photo booth, vending, etc.) or to hold events to help drive traffic down that corridor
- Fabien Astre, New Operations Supervisor – based out of the Admin Office, you will see him out and about on the property
- Operation Projects
- Beginning on the 16th for 4 days, the asphalt in front of Fresh St. Market will be replaced
- The roof repairs above Best Buy are complete
- Bollards will be installed at Entrance 2 soon. All exterior entrances will have bollards eventually
- Crime Prevention
- In a recent meeting with RCMP, it was shared that the Aberdeen area, including Aberdeen Mall, is considered to have a very low crime rate
- Mall Security is showing 18-24 theft reports per month, which means those thefts are not being reported to the RCMP
- We would encourage you to report all thefts to the RCMP so that they can track crime trends and allocate more resources to the area
- ABM Security will work with RCMP and may be able to provide camera footage including suspects entering/exiting premises and any vehicle movements and license plates
- ABM Security’s prime focus is the safety of customer and staff, not loss prevention
- Retailers can call them to help remove individuals from their stores
- What are we asking of you?
- Continue to train your staff to be vigilant
- Watch for suspicious activity, known shoplifters or disturbances
- Report every theft to the RCMP, even if it seems minor. This helps build a true picture of the crime in the area
- Call Security for assistance
- Staff Parking Reminder
- Please remind staff to park in the designated staff parking areas
- Staff parking is provided to ensure that prime parking spaces near store entrances remain available and convenient for your customers
- Staff parking is located along the outer perimeter of the parking lot, in white-lined stalls
- Marketing Initiatives
- Tour Bus Eat Free Program – running June 1 – September 1. Each full bus that stops at Aberdeen Mall is eligible to receive a $20 ABM GC for each driver and operator on board
- If/when we receive schedules, we will post them to the website under Retailer Communication
- Putting for Papa – June 14th in Centre Court from 10am – 4pm. Customers will be encouraged to putt for a chance to win an instant prize, a VIP coupon from Specavers and an entry ballot for their father to win a retailer prize pack valued over $500
- Canada Day – we will have a draw to giveaway a $158 ABM GC and have swag to give out at Guest Services for the day
- Anniversary – August 5th – Our 44th birthday. We will have a giveaway and potentially some live entertainment that day
- Back to School – Aug 5 – Sep 7- same format as last year, we will be curating 3 different prize packs for customers to enter-to-win. A retailer memo for involvement will be going out soon
- Tenant Questions/Feedback
- West Coast Amusements – what does it bring to the centre?
- When comparing traffic from WCA to the week before, there was a 56% increase
- We understand that there are also challenges when they are here
- Additional Security will be allocated to Fresh St. Market next time WCA is here (Sep 4 – 7) once the mall is closed
- Black Friday – Will we be doing something to help drive traffic?
- Yes – absolutely. We want to find balance in providing an incentive to customers to shop but not create a distraction with long lineups at Guest Services. Most likely there will be a gift card incentive – purchase XX to receive a bonus GC. These promotions go over well, without creating those bottlenecks at Guest Services
- Full details will be shared at the next tenant meeting in September
- Holiday Hours – Is it likely that extended holiday hours would continue to be Mon – Sat, until 9pm?
- It’s unlikely that we will run fewer hours, but it will be evaluated with the ownership and confirmed in the fall
- Many Head Offices want the doors open, particularly when our competitors are open
- Last year we held events over 4-nights early in the extended hours. We are looking to expand on that to have more nights as the traffic increase was very positive
- West Coast Amusements – what does it bring to the centre?
2025 Remaining Meeting Dates:
- Tuesday, September 9, 2025
- Tuesday, November 4, 2025
June 5, 2025
We are expecting tour busses to come back through on the following dates:
Aug 27 - 28 passengers
Aug 30 - 39 passengers
July 30, 2025
It's come to our attention that many of the retailers are either partially or fully closing early before the end of the day announcements.
Unit gates and doors must remain fully open until after the closing announcement has been made each day.
For the employees in the kiosks, you must remain in your kiosk until the final announcement is complete.
Late openings, midday closures and early closures are all kept track of and reported to Head Offices. Please ensure your team knows these rules.
If you have any questions, please visit the Administration Office.
Thank you,
Kristi Williams
